Avapro
Avapro (generic name: irbesartan; brand names include: Approvel / Aprovel/ Irovel / Karvea) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used mainly for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension).
Avapro is also indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy with an elevated serum creatinine and proteinuria in patients with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
In people with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, Avapro is also prescribed to stave off damage to the kidneys, often delaying the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant.
Avapro may be used alone or in combination with other medicines.
