Avalide
Avalide (generic name: Irbesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide; brand names include: Xarb-H) is a combination formulation of an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (irbesartan) and a low dose thiazide diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide).
Avalide is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Each Avalide tablet contains 150 mg irbesartan and 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide.
Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Avalide exactly as directed.
Avalide may be administered with or without food.
Avalide may be administered with other antihypertensive agents.
The usual starting dose is Avalide 150/12.5 mg once daily. The dosage can be increased after 1 to 2 weeks of therapy to a maximum of one 300/25 mg tablet once daily as needed to control blood pressure.
Precautions
Tell your doctor before taking Avalide, if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have liver, kidney or heart problems;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
